TRIPLAN: Engineering for the new Rhenus Lub grease factory
Bad Soden, 01 June 2004.
With the first turf-cutting on 24 May 2004 Rhenus Lub began the construction of a new, eleven million Euro grease factory for the production of high-performance lubricants at the Mönchengladbach-Rheindahlen industrial area factory premises.
We were contracted to provide engineering services, initially in the form of feasibility studies, location studies and economic feasibility analyses. The TRIPLAN Karlsruhe branch, which specialises in petrochemicals/lubricants then also won a contract to implement basic engineering and engineering for official permits, including a proposal in accordance with the Federal Immission Control Act (Bundesimmissionsschutzgesetz = BImSchG). The order for general planning services, including detail engineering, construction management and commissioning support, followed in October 2003. When implementing the project, once again in addition to the plant design tool TRICAD and the engineering and lifecycle data management system TRIBASE, the project management software HEXAPLAN that was developed with a Swiss pharmaceutical company also proved a success.
After completion and a test run high-performance lubricants for demanding uses like in the automobile industry were produced at the new high-tech plant from mid-2005. The new grease factory replaces an old plant.
"By investing in the new grease factory Rhenus Lub consciously decided on Mönchengladbach and against possible sites in East Germany or in the EU accession states", underscores Dr. Max Reiners, owner of the company. The new plant allows Rhenus Lub to produce qualitatively better high-performance lubricants more flexibly and provide state of the art working conditions for its employees.
