Shell gives TRIPLAN KataLeuna general contractor order:
New factory for the production of fuel catalysers.
Bad Soden, 27. September 2007:
KataLeuna GmbH Catalysts, a Shell/CRI-Criterion Group company, which took over catalyser production of the Leuna plant in 1998, is a leading manufacturer of specialised catalysers for the chemical and petrochemical industry.
The engineering services provider, TRIPLAN AG, Bad Soden, has already carried out the design study and expanded basic engineering for the new plant. On 18 July 2007 TRIPLAN was made detail engineering, construction and assembly monitoring and start-up support general contractor for the EPCM order.
“For TRIPLAN this order is another milestone in implementing general contractor chemicals projects. The expert know-how of our employees at the chemicals sector centre that we set up in Leverkusen in 2006 perfectly complements the know-how and experience in the local Merseburg branch“, said Walter Nehrbaß, the engineering board member. The organisational structure – the set up of the sector centres combined with our regional presence allows customers better access to the overall know-how of the TRIPLAN Group at every site and in every project phase.
Peter Stromberger, manager of the Chemicals/general engineering sector centre adds: “Local proximity and our experience in designing solid material handling plants and excellent cooperation in the design and basic engineering phase were crucial for accepting the project. Implementation is taking place according to Shell’s high execution and safety stands.”
More than 20 TRIPLAN employees will be working on the project in design and assembly monitoring by the end of 2008. The start of 2009 should see production of specialised catalysers started. The new plant increases capacity at the site. KataLeuna guarantees existing jobs and provides the opportunity for new high-value production and research jobs.
