Chemtec Leuna places EPCM order with Triplan

Bad Soden, 19. March 2009:
In February 2009, Chemtec Leuna GmbH placed an EPCM (Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management) order with the Merseburg branch of Triplan AG in the areas of design, purchasing, manufacturing control and collaboration in commissioning a plant for the production of specialty chemicals.

At its industrial site, Chemtec Leuna operates a combined plant for the production of speciality chemicals and pharmaceutical compounds. It now seeks to expand production capacity with an additional phase expansion. The new plant will be built on an existing production site. The project assigned to Triplan as an EPCM order includes the installation of several reaction systems with a back-mix reactor each and associated heating and cooling equipment as well as condensation systems, a Buchner filter each for solid/fluid separation, a blade drier and the necessary infrastructure. In the plant, organic chemical syntheses will be carried out, including nitration and hydrogenation.

The Merseburg branch of Triplan is an integral part of the „Chemicals/general plant construction“ sector centre at the Leverkusen chemicals site. The background to this is that Triplan has expanded its regional structures to a national and international level and bundled its core expertise in project engineering into three sites. The „Refinery/petrochemicals“ sector centre in Karlsruhe and „Life Sciences“ in Basel completes the spectrum of Triplan’s engineering services as general contractor.

What’s in it for the customer? In large-scale, mainly national projects the local team is supplemented by the expertise of the sector centres. Hence, at each site and at each project phase the customer can gain better access to the overall know-how of the Triplan Group. What the customer gets out of it is obvious: individual, quality, time and cost-oriented solutions.

As general contractor Triplan provides support to clients from the start, as Ottomar Berndörfler, branch manager of the Merseburg site emphasises: „We integrate our process engineers into the client’s development team, study solution variants, arrange scale-ups and design the plant from the first draft to the finished design – and at a fair price!“
