Glossary
As-built Services
stock-taking of an existing plant and computer-aided data processing
Basic Engineering
Planning the process-technology bases for a plant construction project
Computer Aided Design (CAD)
Drafting and design using computers, for tasks such as plant construction CAD enables an object to be generated in 2D or 3D before it is built and assembled
Computer Aided Engineering (CAE)
Computer-aided development. Enhances CAD using calculation programs that support the development process
Concept Design
Draft planning; determining variants for a project and creating planning documents
2D-CAD
Two-dimensional graphics programs used in CAD. These programs are used in plant and factory planning to prepare pipework and instrumentation diagrams, as well as to generate cross sections.
3D-CAD
Three-dimensional graphics programs used in CAD. These enable perspective to be shown in models and views of objects and components.
Detail Engineering
Detailed execution planning for a plant construction project
Engineering Data Management (EDM)
Central medium used to record, manage and administer all data and documentation that is relevant to planning an industrial plant
Enterprise Ressource Planning (ERP)
Time and materials management system used to plan and control production
Feasibility Studies
Investigations that assess and judge the possibility of carrying out a planning project
Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
U.S. agency. It monitors among other things the manufacture of drugs
Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
Globally recognized rules to ensure problem-free manufacture, especially of pharmaceuticals and their ingredients.
Lifecycle Data Management
Like engineering data management, but specifically for plant operators for the complete documentation of a plant’s lifecycle or a production site
Multipurpose plant
Production plant that enables flexible production of alternating products.
Mono plant
Production plant that is designed for the efficient production of one product
Qualification / Validation
Documentation of evidence that the processes, procedures, equipment, materials, operations or systems actually produce the expected results in accordance with the principles of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice).
P&I Flow Charts
Pipework and instrumentation flow charts
Systems integration
Combining different hardware and software systems to form a user-specific system (application architecture)
Third Party Products
Products and services from third parties that complement the product portfolio of the TRIPLAN group
TCO
TCO, Total cost of ownership (lifecycle costs)
