Chemical API project in Westphalia: Triplan (TTP Group) wins EPCM contract for active ingredient plant

TTP Group (Rosenheim)/Triplan GmbH (Bad Homburg), April 20th, 2022: Engineering service provider Triplan has been awarded a major contract for the design of a multi-product API plant. It involves the construction of an 8-story factory in the Westphalia area.

According to Triplan, this project is unique, not only in the Westphalia area: The EPCM contract for an unnamed active ingredient manufacturer involves the construction of a new multi-product plant for more than 20 products, which is built in several flexibly interlocking production lines.

Shorter product life cycles and increasing individualization are placing new demands on facility operators. Triplan’s response to the new volatility of the markets offers specialty chemicals companies the opportunity to respond adequately to market challenges by digitizing and making production processes more flexible.

The 8-story building, which is also designed for growth, will be equipped with sophisticated technical building equipment. With the high number of reaction units in the highly corrosion-resistant design and the high number of additives and operating materials, plant engineering is designed for high flexibility. Raw material and product handling is carried out in cGMP-compliant clean rooms following the requirements. The equipment is controlled by an automation system with state-of-the-art batch technology.

To keep the production process running permanently and continuously, Triplan’s experience as a plant designer is crucial. This is the only way that even large products can be produced continuously in a batch process. Planning for the project has begun. The construction site is to be set up in the first half of 2022. Commercial operation is scheduled to start at the beginning of 2024.

Dieter Hofmann, Head of Projects at Triplan, said: “We are pleased to continue a successful customer partnership with a variety of innovative concepts.”
